THE NATURE OF MEMORY
For this exhibition, Faith presents a large-scale textile installation titled The Nature of Memory.
This immersive work draws upon the elemental tones of ocean and sky, invoking a deep, instinctual memory of rain, sky, river, horizon
— the atmospheric haze of the natural world that resonates within us on a cellular, almost mythic level.
Through the ancient practice of indigo dyeing, applied in gradient to expansive folds of calico,
and the warm pigments of the madder plant forming a central sun disk, the work becomes a quiet invocation.
Faith draws directly from the earth’s palette—its minerals and plants—not simply to depict nature, but to transmit it,
to awaken what the soul already instinctively remembers from natural coloUr.
Expansive horizon. Distance. Depth. Height. Dissolution.
The installation serves as a focal point in the exhibition’s broader narrative,
which contemplates the Earth not as backdrop, but as active presence and participant—an archive of knowing,
a vessel of memory, and a mirror to our internal landscapes.
