CLAIR – OBSCUR, NANCY, FRANCE, 2023
APRIL 9 – SEPTEMBER 17, 2023MUSÉE DES BEAUX – ARTS.
The Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nancy hosted Faith XLVII’s inaugural solo museum exhibition,
Clair – Obscur, from April to September 2023.
This landmark exhibition delved into the interplay of light and shadow.
The chiaroscuro she explores is ambivalent. The protective darkness of the night, the deep obscurity of human soul,
the blinding glow of atomic explosions, the pure brightness of luminary and snowy peaks meet face to face.
There’s light in the eyes of nocturnal animals, and darkness in the heart of the stars.
Deeply imbued with the human quest, the art of Faith XLVII ask us to pause.
She offers to accompany us through the arduous path that leads to serenity.
‘You see I want a lot
Maybe I want it all;
The darkness of each endless fall.
The shimmering light of each ascent.’
– Rainer Maria Rilke, The Book of a Monk’s Life, 1899.
