ENTANGLEMENT
An artwork created for Faith’s CHANT exhibition, digitally enhanced by Inka Kendzia. The deconstruction of these meticulously hand drawn flags of the world create alliances and fractures away from continental, geographical or economic ideologies.
The nationalistic tendencies and patriotic symbolisms merge as we (re)consider the centuries of wars and colonial terror, trade embargoes, sanctions, hostile takeovers and covert coups separating countries from each other.
This isolation however is a facade, for beneath the structured reality are things that bind.
Natural disasters, integral trade dependencies, the internet, group consciousness, viruses, earthquakes, planetary forces, the earth’s frequency, our reliance on the natural balance of ecosystems, our susceptibility to solar flares.
The Covid-19 crisis is an example of this solidarity that we are a species cannot escape from.
We are bound together, to each other, and to the planet. This is a dire lesson.
Entanglement is about the interdependence of nations, about the need for cooperation, fair trade agreements, building bridges and alliances.
To see the world as a whole.
