EUROPA, London, 2014

As her contribution to the Dulwich Picture Gallery Project in London, Faith47 was asked to reference an old master painting from the collection. Faith selected Guido Reni’s Europa and the Bull.

The absence of the bull and the introduction of a guiding bird are suggestive of a premonition of the abduction to come, her inner emotions and thoughts, or perhaps a new interpretation of the ancient fable.
