Universal Studios, Los Angeles, 2019
In January 2019, Faith XLVII was honored with a commission from Universal Studios
to create a unique and intricate deconstruction
that pays homage to the storied legacy of Universal’s Film Poster Archive.
This project delved into the visual history of the studio, reflecting on a century of iconic film posters
that have not only defined Universal Studios but also played a significant role
in shaping the visual language of cinema.
Faith’s approach involved meticulously deconstructing and reinterpreting these posters,
extracting elements that speak to the evolution of film art and its impact on global culture.
The final artworks, which blend history with contemporary artistic vision,
were carefully installed at Universal Studios’ headquarters in Los Angeles.
These pieces serve as both a celebration and a reimagining of the studio’s rich heritage,
inviting viewers to explore the deep connection between cinema and visual storytelling.
